BPCL’s Refinery-Cum-Petrochemicals Complex in Andhra Pradesh

Highlights:

Land Acquisition: BPCL is acquiring 6,000 acres along Andhra Pradesh’s coastline for the project, with state government support.

Investment: Total project cost is estimated at ₹95,000 crore. ₹6,100 crore approved for pre-project activities like land development and detailed project reports.

Capacity: Refinery configurations of 9 mt or 10 mt capacity, producing 3.8-4 mt of petrochemicals and 3-3.5 mt of petroleum products.

Government Support: Substantial capital subsidies provided by the Andhra Pradesh government to boost feasibility.

Timeline:

Pre-project studies to complete by December 2025.

Commissioning expected 48 months after the final investment decision (FID).


Crude Supply: Facing a 20% reduction in Russian crude shipments due to sanctions; diversifying sources to West Asia and the U.S.

Significance: The project will support industrial growth in the region and enhance India’s energy infrastructure.
