Boosting Indian Shipbuilding Industry: Key Highlights

1. High-Level Delegation to Japan:

Indian officials are visiting top Japanese shipyards to explore opportunities.

Delegation includes representatives from Cochin Shipyard, Shipping Corporation of India, and Gujarat Maritime Board.



2. Visit to Alang and Pipavav:

T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, inspected the Pipavav shipyard and Alang's ship recycling facilities.



3. Focus on Collaboration:

A prior delegation visited South Korean shipyards (Hanwha Ocean, HD Hyundai, Samsung Heavy Industries) in late 2024.

Aim: Technical collaboration and joint ventures to strengthen local shipbuilding.



4. Government's Goal:

Enhance India's shipbuilding capabilities and competitiveness on a global scale.
